English Pod Study Note Lesson 7

Abstract:Dialog about computer issue.

Thie lesson we learn some phrases about talking about the computer. Bob said his computer froze again, and he asked Samuel to take a look at it. Bob guess the reason that his computer is acting up is virus.

Samuel said he will be right up. After Samuel scanned Bob’s computer, it turns out that there are a lot of infected files. But Bob didn’t know why he picked up the virus. Samuel told he the reason: he needs to make sure the anti-virus software is updated regularly (up to date).

So we learn some phrases:

If we will do something at once we can say: I will be right out/up/down/there. The phrase is usually used in the angry mode, for example: when someone shouts to you he needs the bathroom, you could say I will be right out!

Sometimes we do not very sure something but you have made some operation and get some data and result. According to these result, you can say it turns out that your solution is not effective.

Up to date is adj., so you can use it like, we need up to date map.

The phase of “acting up” means not working properly, If a person, especially a child, acts up, they behave badly. If a machine or part of the body acts up, it does not perform as well as it should: My car always acts up in cold weather.
