English Pod Study Note Lesson 11

Abstract: Note for EP Lesson 11 (new guy in town), talking about the gosip gossip between two house women.

The Dialogue Summary

Two housewives talking about the new guy who moved into the old house down the road. The Doris start the gossip with “I don’t know if you heard …”. The other girl (we named her Alice) said she had met him whose name is Armand. Doris was hurried to know him and said: “You have to fill me in“. Alice got a bad feeling about the new guy. Then she started to tell the story yesterday. She brought over the house warming gift but Armand acted weird and kicked her out practically. Alice tried to peek into the house, but because of the darkness, she couldn’t get a good look.

After heard Alice’s story, Doris also told what she saw. She said: “You’ll never guess what I saw this morning“. She saw a delivery truck pulled into his driveway and dropped off a long and rectangular box. It looked like a coffin.

They just wanted to continue their gossip, the Armand exist back of them (I think) and use strange voice to said hello. And the Alice said “you scared the heck out of me“, then introduced Doris to him. The Armand invited them for a dinner, but he slipped up what he was really thinking: have them both for dinner. And then he changed quickly to have them both over for dinner. OK, just one word makes the sentence from the friend to terror.
